AACC Board of Members Meeting in Ankara

The Preparatory Meeting of the Second Congress of the Association of Asian Constitutional Courts and Equivalent Institutions (AACC) was organised in Ankara JW Marriot Hotel on 24 April 2013 and hosted by the Turkish Constitutional Court carrying out the Term Presidency. The AACC was established with a view to exert efforts to open up horizons concerning different constitutional justice systems in Asian countries, to exchange knowledge and experience, and to enable multilateral cooperation among members for the promotion of human rights and enhancement of democracy and supremacy of law in Asia. The Second Congress was decided priorly to be held in Turkey during the Board of Members Meeting of the Inaugural Congress organised in Seoul (Korea) on 20 May 2012. Representatives of Indonesia, Korea, Uzbekistan, Malaysia, Mongolia, the Russian Federation, Thailand, Tajikistan and Turkey participated in the Board of Members Meeting held on 24 April 2013 as member countries. The ICOIC of Afghanistan and Constitutional Council of Kazakhstan were accepted as new members; while Constitutional Court of Georgia was granted observer status. During the meeting significant decisions were taken concerning the activities to be conducted by the Association in the future. It was decided also that the Second Congress of the Association to be held in Istanbul in May 2014. As the Meeting continued, Ankara tour programme was organised for the spouses of the participants. At the end of the meeting, the invited guests had the opportunity to visit the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations and Ancient Ankara houses. After the dinner in Çengelhan hosted by President Haşim KILIÇ, the guest delegations paid a short visit to the industry and machinery museum located in the same place. A dinner was hosted by the Prime Minister, H.E. Mr. Recep Tayyip ERDOĞAN, in honour of the guest delegations at Rixos Hotel on 25 April 2013. The representatives of the member countries of the AACC, took part in the activities of the 51st Anniversary of the Turkish Constitutional Court and the social activities organised on 26-28 April.
